Font.

The font we used was called Besom, we felt this gave the video a softer aspect about it and kept the video friendly.

It went well with the style of our video, it is a simple and pretty font but still remains professional.

Bramley Baths building

Genre: Documentary

Target audience- 20 + males and females

The aim behind this project is to show Bramley Baths both to the public and potential funders in a positive light, to express their aim of gaining more custom and hopes of growth and renovation for the future. We will include the history of the baths and how it came to be a community driven organisation. The video will boast shots of the buildings architecture and intricately designed interior features; Such as the various stain glass windows within the building, the colourful tiles and paintwork, it’s wrought iron railings surrounding the pool as well as the general atmosphere of the baths. The organisation want to communicate how rare and special the baths is, how much of an asset it currently is for the community and how much the organisation has grown over recent years. We will interview Tracy and Courtney, who will show their passion and love for the building and the visitors of it. The interviewees will explain the various features and activities the baths currently hosts, and the much needed funding for the companies longevity. The video will use natural lighting throughout.

Editing.

Once we had all the footage we went into editing.

First of all we looked through both interviews and pulled out the bits we thought were relevant and would go well with the shots we had.

It was important for the spirit of the building and the tight knit community to come across in what was being said, so we chose part of the interviews where this was talked about.

Courtney really bigged up the beauty of the building and how it is unique to other swimming baths around. Over Courtney describing this we wanted to put some shots of the building and the stain glass windows etc, to show of what she is talking about.

Courtney also talks about what is available at Bramley Baths, such as the gym etc. Over this we showed shots of the gym and other available facilities.

Over all Courtney gave a really good interview about Bramley Baths and you can really feel the passion and enthusiasm she has which I feel will also make others feel this way.

Tracey talks more about how the building doesn’t have enough funding to keep up the hard maintenance and pursue the necessary refurbishments to improve the building. Whilst she is talking about this we showed which areas of the building she was talking about and also some shots of Courtney carrying out some maintenance work of the pool water.

Tracey also talks about how the baths has a true partnership and how involved the community is, over this we showed some really nice shots of the wall with framed pictures on, these included the idea of having light shining through the window. This gave an emotive feel adding to what was being said.

We decided to have Tracey’s interview at the start of the video as this would initially be addressing the issues, and then Courtney’s afterwards to change the vibe and make people feel excited about Bramley Baths and therefore making them consider helping and showing them it is worth it.

Music.

We decided to choose our music before properly editing the video as this would help us decide on where to put cut aways etc.

The first track we chose was Chris Zabriskie as we thought this would fit the speed of the shots and Tracey’s voice in the interview. However it is also quite a gloomy song and makes it feel like what Tracey is saying is negative. It also didn’t fit well over Courtney’s interview as this has quite a happy vibe.

So we picked a more up beat song called Into The Clouds and tried this over the whole film. We felt that it didn’t fit well with Tracey’s interview but went well with Courtney’s.

From this we have chosen to use both songs, Zabriskie over the first half and Tracey’s interview. Then going into the second half with Into The Clouds over Courtney’s interview.

Filming.

Our video is based on the history of Bramley Baths and the building in general.

From this we decided to get some footage from all places in the building, from the gym to underneath the pool. Whether all this would be used we didn’t know but having the footage was useful. We focused on how light fell through the windows of the building and the flections in the pool as this gave the shots an emotive feel as well as creating a nice shot.

As well as this the first day shooting we only used the shoulder mount for the camera and didn’t use a tripod. This meant when looking back at the footage we had it was quite shaky and discovered using a tripod is necessary. Next time we went to film we did use a tripod and got some nice shots.

We also interviewed Tracey and Courtney, Courtney knew more about the history of the building so she talked more about that. Tracey brought the problem of funding to attention and talked about how there was not enough to make a surplus.

Courtney was really passionate about the building and you could really tell she loves the place, her interview really gives off a positive vibe.

Whereas Tracey’s interview seemed a bit more gloomy and I think this works well with the issues she is raising.

Here are the questions we asked:

Research.

This documentary about the Empire Estate Building talks about the history behind it, which is sort of what we are doing with our documentary however the history and information about the building will be discussed through interviews rather than narrated. However I like the shots of the city in this documentary and would like to have the same sort of footage around Bramley Baths.

There are interviews in this documentary and there is footage layer over this which is also an idea I would like for our documentary.
